The Institute of Human Genetics invites applications for a:
Research Scientist position (TV-L EG14, 100%) (m/f/d)
The full-time position (38,5h/week) is to be filled as soon as possible and for three years due the project, with the possibility of extension.
To establish and lead the new “International Biobanks - Data Access and Analysis Hub” of the Medical Faculty.
The analyses of biomedical data provided by epidemiological databases, biobanks and registries play an increasingly important role in basic and translational research. Together, these resources (including UKBiobank, AllOfUs Research, or the German National Cohort) provide extensive and diverse datatypes (including phenotypic, imaging and multi-omics data) from several hundred thousand people. In order to make this data efficiently accessible to researchers and clinicians across diverse disciplines of the University Hospital Bonn, a collaborative central platform will be established at the Medical Faculty. This “International Biobanks - Data Access and Analysis Hub” platform will be set up as a central service unit to support clinical-translational research and, prospectively, might be developed into a Core Facility.
The platform will be affiliated with the Research group “Immune Genetics” (Prof. Kerstin Ludwig) at the Institute of Human Genetics, which is one of Germany’s leading centers in the identification of genetic risk factors for multifactorial disorders. We are centrally involved in numerous cooperative projects across the campus and at national and international level, for which the University Hospital Bonn provides a unique scientific environment. The “International Biobanks - Data Access and Analysis Hub” will strengthen the Research Area “Genetics & Epidemiology” of the Medical Faculty Bonn, and is expected to particularly support cooperations with clinicians and scientists of the Cluster of Excellence “ImmunoSensation2”.
